The Banting Homestead
Located at the birthplace of Sir Fredrick Banting, co-discoverer of insulin, this education centre provides both historical exhibits and education for diabetics. The farmhouse was extensively renovated to both restore the historical interior and upgrade to modern building standards. A one-storey addition was built to provide a reception and modern washrooms to visitors. The design of the addition centres around a ramp that provides all-weather barrier-free access to the main floor of the farmhouse.
Further building additions are planned to expand the use of the property as a diabetes management and education centre.
