A Secure Future for James Fryett Architect Inc.

James Fryett Architect Inc. is pleased to announce that Architects Robert Turner and Carolyn Bilson have joined Jim Fryett as co-owners of the company.

Carolyn and Robert are skilled designers with extensive experience in project development. Their  services begin with assessing project feasibility through property analysis and building assessments.  They oversee projects from programming and master planning stages through design development, working drawing production, and administration of the construction contract.

The addition of Robert and Carolyn as owners secures the future of James Fryett Architect Inc. and ensures the continued development of long term professional relationships with our clients.

Welcome Hadil

James Fryett Architect Inc. has welcomed a new team member, Hadil El-Baba, in the role of Architectural Assistant.

Hadil is a graduate of Beirut Arab University where she acquired a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering accredited with the Royal Institute of British Architects. She is a registered architect with the Order of Engineers Lebanon.  She will be entering the Intern Architect program with the Ontario Association of Architects.

Notice of Tender: Fergus Grand Theatre

James Fryett Architect Inc. is pleased to announce that the Township of Centre Wellington is requesting tenders for Renovations to the Fergus Grand Theatre. Documents must be obtained through the Township’s Website.

A mandatory site meeting will be held on Monday May 29th at 3:00 pm..

All questions are to be submitting in writing to the Township of Centre Wellington. Communication details are included in the tender documents.

The tender period closes Tuesday June 13th, 2017.

Together We Care

This week architects Carolyn Bilson and Robert Turner of James Fryett Architect Inc. attended the Together We Care Convention and Trade Show in Toronto. Together We Care is a joint conference of the Ontario Long Term Care Association and the Ontario Retirement Communities Association.

From their booth on the trade show floor Robert and Carolyn chatted with existing clients and met many potential new clients. James Fryett Architect Inc. recognizes the increasing need for retirement housing and long-term care. We are pleased to be able to assist our clients through the construction of new buildings or through the renovation and expansion of their existing buildings.

Ready for Tenants at Milton Business Centre

James Fryett Architect Inc. is pleased to announce that the Milton Business Centre, located at the intersection of Esquesing Line and Lawson Road, Milton is ready for occupancy.  The major expansion and complete recladding of the existing office provides 22,300 square feet of flexible office space over two floors for single or multiple tenants. Built by Tambro Construction Ltd., the building is completed to a high standard of finish with stone and brick on the exterior and marble tiling to the communal areas within.

Featured Project: Chancellors Way

This 25,000 square foot office building is part of the University of Guelph Research Park.  Two storeys of office space sit atop a parking garage.  The exterior of the building is both visually striking and designed for enhanced energy efficiently that is significantly in excess of building code requirements.  The interior is designed to meet the custom needs of the single tenant, the Guelph Food Technology Centre.

New Project: Fergus Grand Theatre Restoration

Since 1928 the Fergus Grand Theatre has been a part of the Centre Wellington community.  The building has recently received an Ontario 150 grant for restoration of the historic facade and improvements to accessibility for patrons.  James Fryett Architect Inc. is pleased to be completing designs for this work.  Accessibility improvements include barrier free access to the main entrance and main floor washrooms.  Restoration work includes the removal of previous changes to the facade that will once again expose original stained glass windows to the street.

New Project: Guelph General Hospital Special Care Nursery

James Fyrett Architect Inc. is once again pleased to be working with Guelph General Hospital on the renovation of their existing 3 000 square foot Special Care Nursery.  The facility is currently able to accommodate up to nine premature or special needs babies.  The re-design will include larger incubator bays  with enough space to allow new parents to reside alongside their newborns, as well as new feeding & bathing facilities and a new Nurses Station.

New Project: Mountainview River Estates

James Fyrett Architect Inc. is delighted to be working with Mountainview Homes on the design of three new mid-rise apartment buildings. Located in the new ‘River Estates’ subdivision at Fonthill, Ontario, the three 50-unit apartment buildings will feature high quality building materials such as wood paneling, brick and stone facades with feature copper roofs.  The development will provide covered parking on the ground floor and generous balconies for each unit. This project is at the forefront of the expansion and intensification of the Town of Pelham.  The developer is  aiming for construction to begin late 2017.

Congratulations Carolyn Bilson

James Fryett Architect Inc. is pleased to announce that Architect Carolyn Bilson has been appointed as a member of the Building Code Commission by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

The Building Code Commission is an adjudicative tribunal authorized under the Building Code Act. The mandate of the Building Code Commission includes the resolution of disputes concerning the sufficiency of compliance with the technical requirements of the Building Code.

Carolyn was sworn in on the 1st of December, and expects to sit on Commission Boards several times per year.
